Convert Word to PDF — free
Accepted formats: DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, TXT.
Max size: 10 MB on Free, 200 MB on Premium.
How it works
- Drop or select your Word document (DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, TXT).
- Click Convert to PDF. The rendering stays faithful to your original document.
- Download the resulting PDF. Source and PDF are deleted after 1 hour.
Word layout preserved
Our conversion engine preserves layout, embedded fonts, images, tables, footnotes, headers and footers, pagination and styles. Clickable hyperlinks remain functional in the PDF.
Conversion typically takes between 2 and 8 seconds depending on complexity — a 5-page document converts in under 3 seconds on average.
Accepted Word formats
Microsoft Word: DOC (Word 97-2003), DOCX (Word 2007+). OpenDocument: ODT (OpenOffice, Google Docs export). Rich text: RTF, TXT. Most files generated by Word 2007+ or Google Docs (DOCX export) are supported with no adjustment.
Privacy and security
The whole conversion runs on our servers in France (OVH Gravelines). No US third party is involved in the conversion process — no CDN, no storage, no tracker. Your documents are never indexed, analyzed or reviewed. No result is cached: two conversions of the same document produce two independent PDFs.
The source Word document and the generated PDF are deleted after one hour. If you create a share link, a copy of the PDF is kept for the period you chose (up to 7 days on Free and 30 days on Premium). You can delete the share (and therefore the PDF) at any time. conv2pdf is GDPR-compliant, and a DPA is available on request for professional use.
Frequently asked questions
Are Microsoft fonts (Calibri, Arial…) preserved?
Common fonts are rendered faithfully via their free equivalents preinstalled on the server. Custom fonts embedded in a DOCX are extracted and used for rendering. If a rare font is missing, the engine automatically substitutes the closest match.
Are headers, footers and page numbering preserved?
Yes. Headers, footers, page numbering, table of contents and footnotes are preserved as-is in the resulting PDF.
Do hyperlinks remain clickable?
Yes. Internal links (table of contents) and external URLs are preserved and remain functional when the PDF is opened.
Can I convert a PDF back to Word?
This tool only converts Word documents to PDF. For the reverse (PDF to Word), a dedicated tool is planned in a future release.
