PostScript → PDF

Convert a PostScript or EPS file to PDF

A vector drawing or a print-ready document, readable anywhere without specialised software.

PS EPS Max size 10 MB, up to 200 MB on Premium

How it works

  1. Drop your .ps or .eps file, 10 MB max on Free and 200 MB on Premium.
  2. Click Convert to PDF. An EPS drawing keeps its dimensions, a PostScript document keeps its pages.
  3. Download your PDF. The source file and the generated file are deleted from our servers after one hour.

Why convert a PostScript file?

PostScript is the language that printers, drawing software and scientific tools have used since the 1980s to describe a page. EPS is its single-page variant, made to be placed inside another document: a logo, a chart, a diagram.

Few devices can still display these files without specialised software. A PDF opens everywhere: it is what you need to send the file, print it or insert it in a report.

What you get

Text stays text: you can select it, copy it and search it. Drawings stay vector: they are not turned into an image and remain sharp at every zoom level.

An EPS file gives a one-page PDF, at the exact dimensions of the drawing. A PostScript document keeps the page size it declares; if it declares none, it is set on A4.

The standard fonts of the language — Helvetica, Times, Courier, Symbol — are rendered with equivalent fonts, embedded in the PDF. A font that the file does not contain and that we do not have is replaced. The information the file carries in its header, such as its title, the user name or the originating software, is not copied into the PDF.

Files we refuse, and why

A PostScript file is a program: converting it means running it. Three cases are refused instead of being converted.

The program contains an error, or the file was cut short. It stops before the end, and we do not deliver an incomplete PDF.

The file draws no page. This is the case of a font or a library of procedures saved as PostScript: we tell you so rather than hand you a blank page.

The document exceeds 500 pages, or its processing exceeds 30 seconds.

Privacy and security

Conversion happens on our OVHcloud servers, in France. No American service is involved in the process — no CDN, no storage, no tracker. Your files are never indexed, analysed or reviewed. No result is cached: two conversions of the same file produce two independent PDFs.

The program contained in your file runs in a confined environment: it has no access to any other uploaded file, cannot write anywhere else, and cannot launch another program.

The source file and the generated PDF are deleted after one hour. If you create a share link, a copy of the file is kept for the period you chose (up to 7 days on Free and 30 days on Premium). You can delete the share at any time. conv2pdf is GDPR compliant.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between PS and EPS?

A PostScript file describes a document of one or more pages. An EPS file describes a single drawing and declares its frame, so it can be placed inside another document. Both can be dropped here, and the format is recognised from the content of the file, not from its name.

Is the text of the PDF selectable?

Yes, when the file contains text: it can be selected, copied and found by search. Some software saves letters as drawings; they stay drawings in the PDF.

Does my drawing stay vector?

Yes. The lines, curves and fills of the file are carried over as they are, without going through an image. The PDF scales up without losing sharpness.

Why is my file refused?

Because its program stopped on an error, because it draws no page, or because it exceeds our limits of 500 pages and 30 seconds. An incomplete file, half downloaded for example, falls in the first case.

And the reverse operation?

Converting a PDF to PostScript is not offered. To rework a PDF, see PDF to Word.
