Convert a web page to PDF

Paste an address, get the page as a PDF: an article, an online invoice, a documentation page, an order confirmation.

URL A few seconds, no sign-up
The page must be publicly reachable, with no sign-in or password.

How it works

  1. Paste the page address, starting with https:// or http://. The page must be publicly reachable: we open it as an anonymous visitor, without your session or your passwords.
  2. Click Convert to PDF. We open the page in a browser, wait for it to settle, then print it to PDF.
  3. Download your PDF. It is deleted from our servers after one hour.

What you get

The PDF is the printable version of the page, not a screenshot. The text stays text: you can select it, copy it and search it. Links stay clickable, and the page headings become bookmarks for navigating the document.

The layout is the one the site intends for print: many sites then drop their menus, banners and ads to keep only the content. That is usually what you want — but it is also why a PDF does not always look exactly like what you see on screen.

The page size and margins are the ones the site declares. When it declares none, the PDF comes out A4 with a one-centimetre margin. A long page is split into as many pages as needed.

Pages we cannot convert

We open the page without being signed in. Anything that needs an account, a password or a single-use link is therefore invisible to us: a mailbox, a customer area, an intranet, a privately shared document. The PDF would contain the sign-in screen, not your content — we would rather tell you than deliver it.

Internal addresses are refused: a private-network address, a local machine or an internal service is not converted, and that is a guard we do not lift, including when a public domain name points at one.

Some sites render an empty page outside a real hand-driven browser, or ask you to solve an anti-bot check. We do not work around those protections. When the page renders no content, the conversion is refused instead of handing you a blank sheet.

Finally, a page whose content is embedded from another site in a frame (a cross-origin iframe: a video player, a map, an external form) leaves an empty area there. The rest of the page converts normally.

Privacy and security

The conversion runs on our OVHcloud servers in France. No US service is involved in the process — no CDN, no storage, no tracker. We do not keep the address you convert after the conversion, and no result is cached: two conversions of the same address produce two independent PDFs.

The page is opened in a sandboxed browser, with no access to our files or to internal networks. We send neither your cookies, nor your credentials, nor your IP address to the visited site: the request comes from our server, not from your machine.

The generated PDF is deleted after one hour. If you create a share link, a copy of the file is kept for the period you chose (up to 7 days on Free and 30 days on Premium). You can delete the share at any time. conv2pdf is GDPR-compliant.

What it is for

Archiving a page that will change. An offer, a price list, terms and conditions, an article: the PDF keeps the page as it was, with its date, which an address does not.

Keeping proof. An order confirmation, a ticket, a receipt shown in a page with no download button.

Reading or annotating offline. Technical documentation, a long article, a course: as a PDF it reads on a plane, takes annotations and prints.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PDF an image of the page?

No. It is a real document: the text selects, copies and turns up in search, and links stay clickable. Only the page images remain images.

Why does the PDF not look like what I see?

Because we use the site’s print layout, the one you would get with Ctrl+P. Most sites drop menus and banners there. That is deliberate: a PDF is made to be read and printed, not to reproduce a browser window.

Can I convert a page behind a login?

No. We open the page without being signed in, and we never ask for your credentials. For a page in your customer area, save it from your browser (Ctrl+S, “web page, complete”) then convert the resulting file with our HTML to PDF tool.

What about animations, videos and maps?

A PDF is frozen: a video appears at the frame where it stopped, or not at all. An interactive map loaded from another site leaves an empty area. The page text and images are there.

How long does a conversion take?

A few seconds for an ordinary page. We give the page up to one minute to load; beyond that the conversion is abandoned and nothing is delivered.

Is there a page limit?

Yes, 500 pages for a single document. A web page that would produce more is refused.

Automate via the API

Converting in bulk or from your app? The same processing is available through our REST API — hosted in the EU (France), DPA on request.
