Convert a HEIC photo to JPG

Open and share your iPhone photos anywhere, in the universal JPG format.

HEIC Max. size 10 MB, up to 200 MB on Premium

How it works

  1. Drop your .heic (or .heif) photo, max 10 MB on Free and 200 MB on Premium.
  2. Click Convert to JPG. The image is decoded then re-encoded as JPG, with its original orientation preserved.
  3. Download your JPG. The source photo and the generated file are deleted from our servers after one hour.

Why convert HEIC to JPG?

Since iOS 11, the iPhone saves photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) — a format about half the size of JPG at the same quality. The trade-off is compatibility: many Windows PCs, websites, apps and printers cannot open a HEIC file.

JPG remains the most universal image format: it opens everywhere, with no extra extension or software. Converting your HEIC files to JPG lets you send, post and print them without nasty surprises.

Quality and orientation

The photo is decoded at its native resolution, then re-encoded as high-quality JPG. The orientation recorded by the iPhone (portrait or landscape) is applied to the image, so you never get a sideways photo. Because HEIC is more compact, the resulting JPG is often a little larger at equivalent quality — that is normal, the price of compatibility.

Privacy and security

The conversion runs on our servers in France (OVH Gravelines). No US third party is involved in the process — no CDN, no storage, no tracker. Your photos are never indexed, analyzed or inspected. No result is cached: two conversions of the same photo produce two independent files.

The source HEIC and the generated JPG are deleted after one hour. If you create a share link, a copy of the file is kept for the period you chose (up to 7 days on Free and 30 days on Premium). You can delete the share at any time. conv2pdf is GDPR-compliant.

Frequently asked questions

What is a HEIC file?

It is the iPhone's default image format since 2017 (iOS 11). It stores a photo of JPG-equivalent quality in a file about half the size, but remains poorly supported outside Apple's ecosystem.

Why won't my PC open my HEIC files?

Windows only decodes HEIC with a paid extension, and many websites or apps simply reject it. Converting to JPG fixes this once and for all.

Does the conversion degrade the photo?

The photo is re-encoded as high-quality JPG at its original resolution. The difference is imperceptible for everyday use (sharing, printing, backup).

Can I convert several photos at once?

This tool handles one photo at a time. Drop the next file once the first has downloaded.

What if I want a PDF instead?

Use our HEIC to PDF tool: it places your photo inside a PDF document, ready to print or send.
