Why convert an EPUB?
EPUB is the standard e-book format. It has no pages: the text reflows to fit the screen and the font size, which is ideal on an e-reader and impossible to print as is.
PDF does the opposite: it freezes a pagination. That is what you need to print a book, annotate it by hand, file it into a folder, or simply read it on a device with no EPUB support — including quoting a passage with a page number.
What you get
An A4 PDF whose pages carry the book's text, illustrations, tables and notes. The table of contents becomes the PDF's own outline, the one your reader shows in its sidebar, and internal links stay clickable: footnote references, cross-references, contents entries.
Non-Latin scripts are supported: Arabic, Hebrew, Greek, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Fonts embedded in the book, however, are not used: the text is recomposed with ours. The result looks like a well-configured e-reader, not an exact reproduction of the publisher's design.
Books we turn down, and why
Two cases are rejected instead of converted, because the resulting PDF would be unusable.
Fixed-layout books — comics, manga, picture books, illustrated editions — where each page is one large image. Their layout does not survive repagination: some pages would come out blank. We check the result before handing it over and refuse the file when too many pages are empty.
DRM-protected books bought from an online store. Their content is encrypted and nobody can read it without the vendor's app and the matching account. Font obfuscation, on the other hand, is harmless: those books convert normally.
Privacy and security
Conversion happens on our OVH servers, in France. No American service is involved in the process — no CDN, no storage, no tracker. Your books are never indexed, analysed or reviewed. No result is cached: two conversions of the same book produce two independent PDFs.
The EPUB file and the generated PDF are deleted after one hour. If you create a share link, a copy of the file is kept for the period you chose (up to 7 days on Free and 30 days on Premium). You can delete the share at any time. conv2pdf is GDPR compliant.
Frequently asked questions
Is the book's table of contents preserved?
Yes. It becomes the PDF outline, the one your reader shows in its navigation pane, and internal links stay clickable.
Can I convert a book I bought?
Only if it has no DRM. A protected book is encrypted: we cannot open it, and we say so rather than handing back an empty file. Public domain books and DRM-free purchases convert without trouble.
Why is my comic book rejected?
Because its pages are full-screen images designed for a fixed size. Repagination loses them, and the PDF would come out partly blank. We detect this before delivering the file.
Is the layout the publisher's own?
No, and no tool can restore it: an EPUB contains no pages, they are computed as you read. We produce a readable, regular A4 pagination from the book's text and images.
