Convert Excel to PDF — free

Accepted formats: XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV.

Max size: 10 MB on Free, 200 MB on Premium.

How it works

  1. Drop or select your Excel spreadsheet (XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV).
  2. Click Convert to PDF. Each sheet in the workbook is rendered with its original layout.
  3. Download the resulting PDF. Source and PDF are deleted after 1 hour.

Spreadsheets faithfully rendered

Our conversion engine preserves column widths, row heights, borders, conditional formatting, computed formulas, embedded charts and headers and footers. Each sheet in the workbook is converted to one or more pages depending on the original print settings.

Conversion typically takes between 2 and 10 seconds depending on complexity — a 3-sheet workbook converts in under 5 seconds on average.

Accepted Excel formats

Microsoft Excel: XLS (Excel 97-2003), XLSX (Excel 2007+). OpenDocument: ODS (OpenOffice Calc, Google Sheets export). Flat data: CSV. Most files generated by Excel 365 or Google Sheets (XLSX export) are supported with no adjustment.

Privacy and security

The whole conversion runs on our servers in France (OVH Gravelines). No US third party is involved in the conversion process — no CDN, no storage, no tracker. Your data is never indexed, analyzed or reviewed. No result is cached: two conversions of the same spreadsheet produce two independent PDFs.

The source spreadsheet and the generated PDF are deleted after one hour. If you create a share link, a copy of the PDF is kept for the period you chose (up to 7 days on Free and 30 days on Premium). You can delete the share (and therefore the PDF) at any time. conv2pdf is GDPR-compliant, and a DPA is available on request for professional use.

Frequently asked questions

Will my large workbook go through?

Up to 10 MB on Free, 200 MB on Premium. For very wide workbooks (hundreds of columns), consider setting landscape orientation and the print area in Excel before export — the rendering will be far more readable.

Are formulas computed or exported as text?

Formulas are recomputed by the engine on open, then their result is rendered in the PDF (just like printing). Circular references or unsupported proprietary Excel functions may display #N/A.

Are charts preserved?

Yes. Native Excel charts (bars, lines, pie…) are rendered as vectors in the PDF, with no loss of sharpness when printed or zoomed.

How do I force landscape orientation?

Set landscape orientation in Excel page layout before export — the setting is honored on conversion. A direct option in this tool will arrive in a future version.
